Limited Capacity filling up

Many schools and districts aren’t prepared to: 1) prevent; 2) intervene; or 3) properly support students who are contemplating death by suicide and/or the school community after the death of a student. At best, there may be intervention policies in place. However, what multi-tiered steps do schools have in their capacity to proactively work to prevent suicide? What about support post attempt? How does one communicate to a student body after the death of a peer? The ways in which this happens matters greatly, and it requires schools to develop a culturally responsive, collaborative, and proactive prevention, intervention, and postvention policy and practice. In a collaboration between the CPS Office of Social Emotional Learning and research and practice experts from the Hope Policy Academy at the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis please join us for a full day workshop to learn about effective suicide prevention, intervention and postvention policies and practice in your school and to help strengthen your leadership in advancing your school's mental health MTSS.
